About Green Peace Inn
& Our Vision

Green Peace Inn is a beachfront retreat centre in Weligama, Sri Lanka, offering small-group breathwork, meditation and yoga retreats with fully vegan, plant-based meals

Why the Name Green Peace Inn?

The name “Green Peace Inn” was chosen by the local family who owns the property. When construction began, they were inspired by the peaceful, green surroundings and chose a name that reflected the land's natural character.

In 2017, the property became the retreat centre it is today, and we kept the name as we still believe it's a green and peaceful place.

Green Peace Inn is an independently operated retreat centre in Weligama, Sri Lanka. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Greenpeace International or any of its affiliated organisations.

ABOUT US

Green Peace Inn was founded by Martina and Alex. They discovered a small, partly finished guesthouse on the beach in Weligama, Sri Lanka, and they renovated it and transformed it into a retreat centre.

What started as a coincidence soon became a shared vision: to create a peaceful place where people could reconnect with themselves through Breathwork, yoga, meditation, nourishing food, and meaningful human connection.

We are a small, values-led retreat centre on the south coast of Sri Lanka. Since 2017, we have dedicated a large part of our lives to creating a place where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves, gain clarity, grow, form meaningful connections, and remember what matters most.

We share practical tools, experience and knowledge that can support greater awareness, resilience and connection in everyday life. Many guests tell us that the impact continues after they return home, influencing how they relate to their families, friends, colleagues and communities.

Since 2017, we have facilitated more than 65 week-long Breathwork, Meditation and Yoga retreats, welcomed more than 1,000 participants from over 20 countries, and received five-star ratings in 99% of our published reviews.

Alexander Keil

Alex

Alex's passion is discovering the power of the breath, emotions, mind, and anything our bodies consume. He has been practising meditation since 2010, which, for him, is the foundation for almost everything. He is a certified yoga teacher in different yoga styles and traditions, and to deepen his knowledge of working with the breath and the body, he has completed the Breathwork Teacher Training under Anthony Abbagnano at Alchemy of Breath School and further studied with other breathwork schools (BioDynamic Breathwork (BBTRS), Wim Hof and Dan Brule).

Alex worked for many years in hospitality and as a chef for a restaurant in Germany, specialising in dishes for people with food allergies. His passion for healthy food is always part of his retreats.

He has also studied computer science and business informatics for 6 years and has run his own web and IT service company for 10 years. He knows the challenges of a busy and stressful life. For him, meditation and using the breath are the foundation for dealing with nearly every situation in life. From attending many retreats, workshops, and courses worldwide, he combines everything he learned and will share from these traditions, which have further developed through his practice.

Why Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka is home to Ayurveda, one of the world’s oldest traditional health systems. Ayurvedic traditions hold that wellness depends on a balance among the body, mind, environment, and lifestyle. We genuinely care about helping you find that balance, with the peace you need to calm your mind, yoga and surf to strengthen your body, and healthy food to lift your spirits.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to create a place where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves and remember what truly matters.

At Green Peace Inn, we believe that meaningful change often begins with a simple moment: a quiet breath, an honest conversation, a nourishing meal, a new perspective or the feeling of being truly seen.

Through meditation, yoga, breathwork, reflection, nourishing plant-based food and genuine human connection, we create experiences that support greater awareness, inner strength and clarity. Our intention is not to tell people how to live, but to offer a safe and caring environment in which they can listen more deeply to themselves.

We believe that the impact of a retreat reaches far beyond the days spent in Sri Lanka. When people return home with more awareness, compassion and courage, it can influence their relationships, families, communities and workplaces. One meaningful experience can create ripples that travel far beyond what we may ever see.

Our vision also includes the people who make Green Peace Inn possible. In 2026, our centre directly employs 11 team members, including eight full-time employees, whose income helps support at least eight children and around ten additional family members.

We want to provide fair and stable employment, support families, contribute to education and create meaningful opportunities within our local community. For us, the well-being of our guests cannot be separated from the well-being of our team and the place we share.

In the years ahead, we want Green Peace Inn to remain a warm and grounded home for personal growth, community and meaningful transformation. We hope to continue improving the centre, developing new retreat formats and making our knowledge and experiences accessible to more people around the world.

Step by step, we want to contribute to a more conscious, compassionate and connected world.

We believe that change begins with each of us.

We welcome everyone—whether you are a yogi, a traveller, a parent, an engineer, a business professional, or simply someone searching for a deeper connection.

Before we can create change in the world around us, we must begin within ourselves. We must take responsibility for our own growth and take the first steps before expecting others to follow.

This is where meaningful change begins.

Join us, and let’s walk this path together.
